“Tartuffe” is a satire. “Tartuffe” is a satire. The main instructions of this essay are shown in the additional materials that are uploaded. We are going to discuss why "Tartuffe" is a satire, and use a counter argument to prove why it is not a farce.
Here are the suggestions from my professor:
"re-read Moliere’s two petitions to the King and the preface to the final version of the play, in which he calls it a satire, though he called the darkest first version of the play a comedy in his first petition. Then read the sample introduction for essay three that I distributed. Afterwards, study the Useful Definitions, focusing on what scholars have said about farce and satire. Likewise review what Highet says about the nature and aims of farce and satire. The next step is to write a thesis statement that clearly states why the play is a satire, not a farce. Remember that it must include a "because" clause. Studying the sample introduction can give you a model."
In all, we need to use some sort of sources from Bergson, Highet, and Zinsser that I have uploaded. We need four more resources to add and discuss that you can find those resources from the document "Helpful Sources", which a list of sources we can add.
We also need to write a bibliography, which I also uploaded the sample. However, the bibliography is not counted in the total 8 pages. I can accept the extra fee for that.
