Objectives that Motorola had in developing the Iridium project. Objectives that Motorola had in developing the Iridium project. Handout and Rubric for Iridium Assignment #2 Iridium BUSU 620
Due Week 4 – TEAM Assignment
This Assignment has two parts, a team paper and a team PowerPoint that details the findings of the paper. This Handout will explain the Paper and has the Rubric is below for you to use when writing this assignment. The Rubric will be used to grade your assignment. In other words, if your paper is great but does not follow the Rubric it is not an A paper.
The purpose of this assignment is for your team to research and write a three to five page paper then present in class using a PowerPoint (Prezi?) of your findings. Focus on Step Two of the SIX STEPS TO DECSION MAKING, Determine the Objectives. In other words the focus of this paper is for you to analyze the Objectives that Motorola had in developing the Iridium project and to analyze and critique their objectives and see if the quality and clarity (or lack of) of their objectives had anything to do with their results.
See the PowerPoint (it is a voice over Power Point) presentation guidelines in Course Documents. See HowtoWriteShortPapers080213pdf.
You may use the Leatherby Library (contact Aknight@ chapman.edu for help) and you can research any credible resource (do not cite Wikipedia or People Magazine).
Here is one source you may want to begin with:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/down-to-earth-reasons-for-iridium-failure-1113638.html
In your research you need to answer the following:
- What were the primary objectives for Motorola’s development of the Iridium project (look deep don’t just consider the obvious).
- What was the connection between their objectives and Motorola’s failure with Iridium?
- What could they have done differently to prevent Iridium from going into bankruptcy?
- Using the text book utilize at least two different quantitative analyses to demonstrate your recommendations. For instance, look and see where in time did Motorola know that this project would fail, and how could they have known sooner?
- What evidence is there that Motorola used the six steps to decision making?
Use APA, cite the text book at least three times, use at least three independent credible sources and cite. Remember this paper is about Objectives, Step Two of the Six Steps of Decision Making. So your team is to evaluate Motorola’s objectives and the effect of objectives on results.
The following Rubric will be used to evaluate your Paper for this assignment.
