New media and imagined communities. New media and imagined communities. For this assignment, you will examine how new media has shaped YOUR identity as a member of an imagined community or nation. Think about all of the identities you carry: Who are you? To what groups do you belong? To what communities or nations do you belong? Global media scholars agree that media provides a representation of imagined communities, nations, and identities.

-What does media say about what your values and image are as a member of this imagined community?

Find three media examples that provide a representation of your imagined nation or community. Analyze your media examples to answer at least 3 of the above questions. What if media representation is NOT how you view yourself as member of your imagined community or nation? From where do you get validation of identity/membership, then? Can one of the concepts discussed in the course so far, help you understand this interaction of media and imagined communities?
