There is a lot of "buzz" already about this organization so the Visit Philadelphia organization wants to have its own media information available for anyone who contacts them about the museum.
The left pocket of the media kit will include "evergreen" information that sets the stage for the museum. It will likely include information about the museum with some other information about the city and its history, tourism, and communications options open for those wishing to visit the area. [You are preparing this as part one of the assignment.]
The right pocket of the media kit will include information specific to the museum’s grand opening and related activities, events, or accomplishments. You will want to develop a short list for yourself of the things you wish to include in this kit. Remember, the news release assignments on personnel, soft news, and research are items you can include here. It would also be "natural" to include an announcement release about the grand opening.
For this portion of the Media Kit you will prepare:
Grand Opening Announcement Release
Feature Release
Related Event/Information Release (ie: special speaker, performance, research, personnel, etc.)
Agenda/instructions/contact information (for this I will provide a sample from FOX)
The full kit is due by the end of the regular term (May 5). We will have writing workshops to prepare these items in class during the month of April as time permits.
