This thesis should focus on the changes that have been made in the greek welfare state due to the financial crisis, and how these changes affected the employment sector and specifically unemployment among young men and women.

4. Youth unemployment (discussion of the situation before and after the crisis)
5. Youth unemployment and the gender inequalities (discussion of youth unemployment after the crisis from a gender perspective)
Theoretical Frameworks & Concepts
 Discussion of the changes that have been applied to the greek welfare state due to the financial crisis and how these changes show the shift of responsibility from the state to the individuals

 Feminist economic theory about the problems that young women face when trying to enter the job market (gender roles, care work etc.)
– Women are seen as less productive than men (many employers now due to the crisis, expect their employees to do more than their qualifications which might include physical work and believe that women will not be able to handle such situations )
– Women are perceived to take care of the family hence will be less productive at work
– Women are affiliated with their role as mothers hence they are expected by employees to be less productive at work
Methodology

 Method of Analysis: thematic analysis -reasoning of choice
 Methodological Limitations: no generalizations etc.

 Material: tables with basic information about the interviewees (will be written by me )
Information about interviews (material enclosed in the document “Interviews”)
– 2 groups
– a. Focus on youth unemployment; the interviewees were post graduates from Greece, both men and women, between the age 24-29. They were officially unemployed and were looking for jobs.
– b. Focus on female youth unemployment; the interviewees were post graduates, women from Greece between the age 23-29. They were officially unemployed and were looking for jobs. The questions focused on specific problems that young women face
Analysis
– Analysis of the main subjects mentioned on the interviews. The analysis should be made using the theoretical frameworks of the thesis combined with literature about Greece
– The analysis of the first group (Group a.) should be bigger in size. Group b. should be analyzed as a category of the first group with a specific focus on gender issues.
