Write an essay in which you propose the topic you will be spending the quarter researching and writing on. I want this essay to illustrate both an understanding of the topic and a reasonable argumentative direction. In this proposal, write a meta-argument (from the outside) as to how you will conceive and argue your topic in the research essay. In order to accomplish this, you must list a research question that you will follow, explain why the topic you choose is a  valid research topic, establish at least one stakeholder to evaluate, and consider what the result of your research will be. This will be covered by the three major sections explained in Chapter 11: purpose, method, and implications.

Identify the topic you selected and explain two (2) reasons for using it.
Include a reasonable, defensible, and relevant thesis statement.
Describe three (3) major characteristics of your audience (official position, decision-making power, current view on topic, or other important characteristic)
Identify and explain the research question as you view it will shape your essay about the topic.
Identify at least one (1) major stakeholder in the topic.
Document at least three (3) sources that you will be using in your research.
