1. An introduction and method description (15 %) [1 page]. For the introduction section, you should provide some insight into how bioassessments fit into evaluations of environmental impacts in aquatic ecosystems using peer-reviewed literature.
2. Results consisting of:
Summarized and neatly presented data sheets/figures for both creeks plus an evaluation of these data relative to Regional Reference Values (40 %). Marks are awarded for correct answers, presentation and associated summary text. Please complete the Excel work and put the table in Result part.
3. Discussion. Discuss the data with particular reference to the following issues:
In the Discussion section [~3 pages], describe the data and present your evaluation of the degree of impacts on the two sampled streams using your 2014 data and the historic data. In addition, discuss how the benthic invertebrate metrics at Jackson Creek differ between the sampling periods. Be sure to discuss the significance of the individual Biotic Indices (e.g. % EPT, % Insects, % Dominants, etc.) as indicators of the health of streams. Compare your data to regional reference values provided in this report and indicate where the values fall in terms of regional reference sites (ie do the data indicate the streams are healthy?). Suggest other Biotic Indices that may have been useful additions to the ones that you used in this lab (30%).
Briefly describe some literature examples that have used benthic invertebrate data to assess impacts of either a stream or a river [not including the ones given below] and compare them to the work you have done (15%).
