Additionally you need to include the name of the teams/schools, time of the event, and the network the game was televised on (i.e. ESPN, FOX, NBC). The game you analyze must take place during spring semester (tons of college basketball and NBA games televised almost every day of the week).

1. Using two stopwatches, record actual playing time compared to the remainder of the broadcast. For example, if you were watching a football game, actual playing time is when the ball is in play (once the ball is snapped to the dead ball whistle). The remainder of the broadcast includes the following: replays, commercials, half-time, and the time between plays. What did you learn from your research? Were you surprised by the results? (5 points)

2. During a televised broadcast, you’ll notice that the announcers are almost never silent. Record the themes discussed by the broadcasters (be specific here). Common themes include: hard work, affirmation of meritocratic ideology, competition, aggression, individualism/heroism, teamwork, and affirmation of the sport ethic. Were the themes presented during the broadcast similar or different from your text/PowerPoint? In your opinion, what purpose do the announcers serve? (5 points)
