OVERVIEW
Part of the assigned readings in your textbook this week concerns leadership. According to Finkel and Kenner (2016)), leadership is not grounded to a position of authority but rather is a relationship between a leader and followers that is collaborative and mutually advantageous. Essential II of the BSN Essentials (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2008), Basic Organizational and Systems Leadership for Quality Patient Care and Patient Safety, emphasizes that quality, safe professional nursing care is the direct result of effective leadership in all health care settings.
Directions:
Read the IOM Report on Leadership.
Describe the scope of leadership presented in the IOM report
Discuss the meaning of interprofessional leadership.
Describe one way nurses can impact leadership in health care into the future.
Address questions 1-3 above, in a 1-2 page essay in APA format. Be concise but specific in your responses. Your essay must show critical analysis of the topic. Support your responses with evidence from at least 2 recent, scholarly journals (preferably nursing journals.) Recent is less than five years old and your textbook is not a journal.
Your response to a classmate’s essay should include brief commentary on their essay regarding questions 1-3 above. Your review should also show critical analysis of the topic and, in addition, must be supported by evidence from at least 1 recent, scholarly, peer-reviewed journals (preferably nursing journals.) This reference must be different than the references in your paper. Remember that recent is less than five years old and your textbook is not a journal. You must complete your review by Thursday of Week 6 at 11:55pm cst.
This assignment is worth 5% of your grade. Feedback will be available within 72 hrs of the due date & time.
Sesame Street and culture
Sesame Street and culture. Sesame Street and culture.
It has been said that Sesame Street influenced the way children learn. Culture is just one aspect where Sesame Street tries to teach children about diversity. You can use the website growing up Sesame Street http://www.sesameworkshop.org/insidetheworkshop to help you get ideas. I want each of you to create a Sesame Street character for a culture. It can be any culture using the definition from the text. You can and should search further for more information about this topic. Also there is a documentary about Sesame Street discussing this very topic.
1)You will have to pick a culture. Remember the definition of culture from class.
2)Create a character. Choose colors and gender and a name. Remember the characters will have to fit a culture you feel is not already represented on the show
3)Make sure you are able to defend your choices. Let the class know why you chose these colors and the name.
4)Finally choose the message you want your character to project. What is the ultimate lesson you want him/her to teach.

Annotated Bibliography
The objective of this assignment is to create a record of readings for a course or for a writing
project. By creating such a record, you have a means to refer back to what you’ve read and
learned, as well as what is valuable (or maybe not so valuable) about a particular reading.
As you move through your graduate studies, it is highly useful to be able to refer to your
annotated bibliography as a reference source for future papers or projects. And, it can serve as an
aid for those works you want to revisit in the future either to read again or to consult for
particular purposes.
It can also serve you in your future career. Much of what you read in this course can become part
of your personal library of resources to access again as needed. An annotated bibliography aids
in retrieving material that can be of use because it will remind you what a particular reading is
about and where you can find it again.
For this assignment, choose 10 readings done in conjunction with this course. At least six
readings should be assigned, required readings from our course. The remaining four can be other
articles or books read that relate to arts and cultural policy. They should be scholarly, researched
books and articles. From these readings, create an annotated bibliography. At minimum, each
annotation should include:
• Full citation of the work including title, author, and publication information.
• One-or-two paragraph analytically-oriented summary of the work. (Rather than just a
summary, provide information on the work’s usefulness for your research or for the
field.)
• In the summary, make sure to include the main claim or thesis, supporting evidence,
methods used, theoretical framework, logical structure of the argumentation, and
conclusions drawn.
• Note that with some books and articles, supporting evidence may be in the form of
examples rather than researched evidence. So, for these works, concentrate on the logical
structure of the argument.
• Conclude each annotation with a statement on how you might use the work in the future.
Important note: Many students approaching this assignment for the first time do not do a good
job. They assume that they are supposed to summarize the reading—as one might do in a book
report—and then make a brief statement about whether the reading is useful for research or not.
DO NOT DO THE ASSIGNMENT THIS WAY!
Instead, your approach is to analyze the reading for its merits. Here’s an analogy that might be
useful to think about how to approach this assignment and how you should write the document.
Pretend you are hired for a lawyer to interview potential witnesses for a trial. As a big, important
lawyer, she doesn’t have time to interview the witness herself. So, she is paying you a lot of
money to do this and to tell her whether the person you interview would be a good witness for
her client. Since she is paying you a lot of money, she expects you to do a good job and make a
recommendation she can count on.
She will want to know:
• What will the witness say?
• Is he reliable?
• Will he help my client?
• Are there gaps in his testimony that might cause a problem for the lawyer’s client?
• What examples can you give that illustrate the above to the lawyer’s satisfaction?
• And, no doubt, the answers to other questions, as well.
In a similar fashion, you are “interviewing” the things you’ve read. The scholarly term we use is
“interrogate.” You are interrogating the readings to discover why they are useful.
Using the guidelines for this assignment and the other materials provided on writing an annotated
bibliography, compile an analytical report of the things you’ve read. Articulate your findings in a
way that someone who has not read the same books and articles could still appreciate the
readings and their merits.
What, in particular—and specifically— is useful or not useful? Give examples from the readings
so someone reading your document can better appreciate what you are stating. Are there things
the author didn’t include that would have increased the book’s or article’s merits? What are those
things? Why should they be included? Does the author make assumptions that are unwarranted?
What are they? Is the reading useful for future research? If yes, in what way? If not, why not?
Answering these questions requires thought and analysis on your part. Remember in our analogy
above, you’re being paid a lot of money to provide an excellent assessment. (In the case of our
assignment, you will get a really high grade if you do well.) You are not voicing your opinion.
You are providing sound judgment based on your reasoned assessment of the material you read.
Grading for this assignment will be based on the above criteria.
The length of the assignment will depend on what you write. As a loose guideline, expect to
write between one-third of a page and one-half of a page for each entry.
Your document should be in Microsoft Word or similar word-processing software.
Upon completion of the assignment, upload it for grading.

China IV
China IV. China IV.
had my last paper done by you guys and it was pretty good. I still need to do better on this one, and really need it on a PhD level. Please help. I was told to select 3 problems for this assignment, because on the excel sheet, the answers are at the end of the page (but I still need you to fill them in because I have very little time on my hands), then there is the Essay Questions (which do not have to be extremely long). Thanks for everything.
1.The rule-of-thumb in evaluating the cash flows of an organization is: ◦The cash flows from operations should be positive, and increasing each year, and ideally should be sufficient to cover any negative cash flows from investing activities.
◦How would you evaluate China Trade in terms of cash flows, in light of this rule-of-thumb measure?
2.China Trade’s income statement (after adjusting for depreciation expense and adjusting entries) shows net income of $300. Yet, its cash flows from operations were a negative $3,000. What caused a $300 accrual basis profit to become a $3,000 “loss” in terms of cash flows from operations?
A continuing case study…
CHINA TRADE, INC.
Part IV – Statement of Cash Flows
Learning Objectives
`
l To understand what information the Statement of Cash Flows provides
l To classify cash transactions in the appropriate Operating, Investing or
Financing activity categories, and thereby prepare a Statement of
Cash Flows under the “direct method”.
l To prepare the Cash Flows from Operating Activities section under the
“indirect method”, using increases and increases in balance sheet amounts.
l To evaluate an organization’s cash flows, using a rule-of-thumb measure.
Requirements
a. For each of the cash transactions under the “Transactions”, tab, enter the cash
amount in the Inflows or Outflows column of the Cash Flows Journal as
appropriate (see “CashFlows” tab). Select the appropriate “classification code”
from the code numbers on the Statement of Cash Flows.
The first transaction has already been entered to serve as an example.
If a transaction does not involve cash, leave that line blank.
For answers to all the adjusting entries, click on the “Answer” tab.
b. Note that the Statement of Cash Flows is prepared from your
postings automatically. When you have completed all the cash
postings, check the end-of-period balance to make sure it agrees with
the Cash amount on the balance sheet at August 31 (see “Balance
Sheet” tab.)
c. In the tab called “Indirect” is a skeleton for the Operating Activities
section of the Statement of Cash Flows as it would appear under the
“indirect method.” Fill in the amounts on the blank lines by referring
to the income statement and balance sheet contained in the “Income
& Retained Earnings” and “Balance Sheet” tabs. Note that increases
in asset accounts become negative adjustments and are to be shown
in brackets and subtracted from net income rather added. The
opposite is true of liabilities.
Note also that since all balance sheet accounts started with a zero
balance at the beginning of this first month of operations, the amount
of increase of each account is the same as the ending balance.
Normally, it would be necessary to subtract the beginning balance
from the ending balance to arrive at the amount of increase or
decrease for the period.
When finished check your answer to the one contained in the
“Answer” tab.
d. Check to make sure the net cash flows from operating activities
under the “indirect method” is the same as the net cash flows
from operating activities under the “direct method”.
e. Essay Questions
Go to the tab called “Essays” and write your answers in a separate Word
document. Do NOT write them in the Excel workbook.
All essay questions require full, grammatically correct sentences which include
your reasoning and/or explanation. It is strongly suggested that you start each
answer with the wording of the question; for example “Overhead costs cannot be
charged directly to individual jobs because…”

Topic
Marking the surgical site
Why
We have had patient come to the hospital having marked their own surgical site. There is nothing to cover this in our policy and the surgeons get upset when we insist they come mark the patient per our policy. We should consider revising the policy on who can mark the patient preoperatively.

PME 604 Project Financing and Associated Financial Management
PROJECT- FINANCIAL STATEMENT ANALYSIS
Learning Objectives
Analyze a company’s financial statements in terms of liquidity, profitability and long-term solvency, and cash flows from operations.
Prepare in good form a written presentation of the results of the financial statement analysis.
Apply basic technology tools including the internet, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Requirements
(1) Select a company and copy/paste its financial statements
Select a public corporation (other than a financial institution or utility such a telephone, electric or gas company), and find its financial statements at http://moneycentral.msn.com. Avoid companies that show Net Losses in either of the last two years:
On the menu of topics at the top, click on “Investing”, “Stocks”. In the “Name or Symbol” box, type in the name or the stock symbol of the company you have selected. Under “Research” and “Financial Results” in the column on the left, select “Statements”. In the dropdown menu select each of the three financial statements and copy/paste them onto separate pages of a single Word document.
(2) Calculate selected ratios and obtain industry averages for comparison
For each of the financial statement ratios listed below calculate the ratio for the current year and for the prior year. (Note that in most textbooks, some of the ratios call for averaging the beginning and ending balances. However, for this project, use only the year’s ending balances.) After calculating the ratio, compare your calculations with the industry ratio as shown in Moneycentral’s “Key Ratios” under “Financial Results”. Note that there are six or seven groups of ratios in which these ratios might be contained:
a. Current Ratio
b. Inventory turnover
(not applicable to service companies)
c.
Debt to Equity ratio (Total liabilities divided by Total equity)
d.
Net Profit Margin (Net Income as a percentage of Sales)
e.
Return on Equity
f. Price earnings ratio (P/E Ratio) [Divide the current market price from a recent newspaper listing by the “basic” earnings-per-share shown on the most
recent year’s income statement.]
Note: The Price/Earnings Ratio (PE Ratio) changes daily with the stock price.
(3) Using Microsoft Word, write a paper (three to five typewritten pages, 1½ line spacing) containing the following:
(a)
A paragraph which describes the primary business activity of the company
(b) A table listing the financial statement ratios listed above in which you list ratio figures for the most recent full year, prior year and industry average.
(c) A paragraph for each of the ratios listed above in which you explain what the ratio means and how it should be interpreted, and comment on the trend from last year to this (favorable or unfavorable), and how your company’s current year compares with the average for its industry.
(d) Earnings Per Share trend is the principal benchmark for investors. Use Excel to present a bar graph showing Earnings Per Share for the last three to five years (EPS figures for several years are generally shown in the Annual Report).
(e) After commenting on each ratio individually, write a summary paragraph which presents your assessment of (1) the company’s liquidity and debt situation, and (2) its profitability.
(f) State your opinion about the company’s ability to generate a positive cash flow from operations. Refer to the trend in the Net Cash Provided by Operating Activities as shown in your company’s Statement of Cash Flows.
(g) Find a recent (less than 6 months old) news article about your company that been published either in print media or on some internet website other than the company’s own website, and write a paragraph in which you cite the article’s title, author, publication and date, and summarize what the article is about.
In addition to Moneycentral, the following websites might contain recent news articles for the company you selected:
http://quote.yahoo.com
(Enter the stock ticker symbol, or if not known, click on Symbol Lookup)
http://marketguide.com
Each of the above items should have a sub-heading in bold font.
(4) As an appendix to your report, attach a copy of the company’s balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows. Also, provide a list of References you made for this project.
GRADING
Grading will be based on content including responsiveness to the stated requirements, and on writing quality (clarity, conciseness, spelling, grammar), and on overall appearance and presentation.
Caution: Avoid referring to companies as “they”, and avoid abbreviations and contractions such as “it’s”. Students for whom English is their second language and who are not able to write acceptably in English must engage an English tutor;the International Student Affairs Office can furnish names of such tutors.
DUE DATES
Refer to the Weekly Assignments document for the due date of this Assignment.
The completed report is DUE ON THE . You are encouraged to submit a preliminary draft of the complete report to the instructor a week before the due date for comments by the instructor. Reports turned in late will be downgraded 10 percentage points. Reports will not be accepted after the Final Exam.
