1. What are some challenges you have faced or things you’ve noticed in yourself when dealing with media that you feel have had an impact on you– i.e., cell phone, texting, phone games, videos, Netflix binging, movies, music, social media. commercials, etc.
2. It’s easy to say turn the TV off and read to a child. However, after a long day/night of work, that is easier said than done. If you had a family that you felt had a child who was watching too much tv or playing too many games or view too much inappropriate content, what are some sensitive, non-judgmental ways you could help the family?
3. Have a parent or an adult friend with children read Box 10.1 12 reasons why "just saying no" to media culture is not enough. What is their response to the reading? Do they agree or disagree or a combination? Avoid making any value judgments on their response–just listen. Write up what you hear and post.
